Amazon Replacement Order Not Returned: Claim the Original or the Replacement?
Replacement orders create two order IDs. Claim the wrong one, or count from the wrong date, and Amazon rejects the claim.
When a customer asks for a replacement, Amazon creates a second order with ₹0 value and links it to the original in the Replacements report. The customer should send the original product back.
Which order ID to claim
| What happened | Claim |
|---|---|
| Original not returned (paid or refunded) | The original order ID |
| Original refunded and replacement not returned | The replacement order ID |
| Everything came back | Nothing |
Which date Amazon counts from
Amazon counts the waiting period from the latest of the original refund date, the replacement refund date and the replacement ship date. This is why claims counted from the original order date are rejected as "filed before the eligible period".
Example: original ordered 2 August, replacement shipped 8 August, original refunded 3 September. The window is counted from 3 September — not from 2 or 8 August.
