Amazon Returns Reconciliation Report: Every Return Status Explained

Returned to Seller, POD Completed, In-transit, Customer cancelled pick-up… what each status means and when to act.

The Returns Reconciliation report is the best source for knowing where a return is. Each row has the customer order ID, the return type, the forward and reverse tracking IDs and the Return Status.

Return types

  • CUSTOMER_RETURN — the customer asked to return the product.
  • UNDELIVERED — the parcel could not be delivered and is coming back (RTO).

Which orders need a claim?

An order needs a claim when it was refunded and its status never reached Returned to Seller (or POD Completed), it was not reimbursed, and the claim window is open.

Tip: never save this report in Excel

Opening the CSV in Excel and saving it turns tracking IDs into numbers like 6.30192E+11 and changes dates to 15-Jul-26. Upload the file exactly as downloaded from Seller Central.

Upload the report to the Amazon return reconciliation tool and every status is matched to the order and its payment automatically.
